A Magnetic Tool Holder
by Roger Taylor
I like to use this little holder to organize extra hand tools that are necessary for various machining projects. A U-shaped, bent steel section that looks like half of a paper clip or a trombone slide is made using Ø1/4” steel rod.
The trombone-shaped “U” form is then either brazed or welded to a 1/4” cap screw so it can be bolted to the center hole of one of those steel-clad disk magnets.
Hammers, wrenches, and other tools can be slipped on or over the trombone frame and kept off of the machine table or chip tray. The holder can be moved from machine to machine and stored in a drawer or on any magnetic surface when not in use.
